Pickup leaf spring is the core rear suspension elastic component for light&heavy-duty pickup trucks,4×4 off-road pickups and utility pickup vehicles,also named semi-elliptic laminated spring.
It is assembled by multiple gradient-length curved alloy steel leaves stacked together,mounted between vehicle frame and rear axle.It undertakes dual functions:bearing cargo/towing load and absorbing road vibration,widely matched with Ford,Chevy,Ram,Toyota,Isuzu and other mainstream pickup models.
2.Main Structure
Main Leaf:The longest top steel plate with rolled spring eyes at two ends,fitted with rubber bushings to connect frame hangers and shackles,reducing friction noise.
Auxiliary Leaves:Shorter layered steel sheets below the main leaf,increasing overall stiffness and load capacity.
Center Bolt:Runs through the middle of all leaves to lock each layer and prevent horizontal displacement under bumpy driving.
Spring Clips:Fixed clamps along the spring pack to keep leaves tightly fitted during compression and rebound.
Interleaf Pads:Rubber or plastic gaskets between steel leaves to eliminate metal collision squeaks and lower abrasion.
Axle Seat:Middle locating boss for U-bolt fastening to fix the rear axle firmly.
3.Working Principle
When pickups run on rough roads,off-road trails or carry heavy cargo,vertical impact from wheels transfers to the leaf spring pack.Stacked steel plates elastically bend and deform to buffer shocks and absorb vibration energy.After load disappears,alloy steel restores its original arc shape automatically.
Different from coil springs,pickup leaf springs can simultaneously position the rear axle,restrain lateral sway and resist axle wrap during acceleration or heavy towing,greatly improving driving stability under full load.
